초록
This study performed numerical simulation to clarify the characteristics of the flow instability and flow-induced forces depending on the aspect ratio of the rectangular cylinder in the laminar flow. The cross-section of the cylinder is ranging from a normal flat plate to a square cylinder depending on the variation of the horizontal length of the cylinder. The key parameters are the Reynolds number(Re) and the aspect ratio(AR). We calculated the flow field, force coefficients, Strouhal number depending on the AR. And the critical Reynolds number for primary instability is obtained by using Stuart-Landau equation for each AR.
