LEARNING OBJECTIVES: To understand the imaging find- ings of various disease which can show deep fasical abnormal- ity and to find some clues of which can make differential diag- noses. SUMMARY: 1. Compartmental anatomy of upper and lower limb. 2. Imaging finding of necrotizing fasciitis, non-necrotizing infectious fasciitis, pyomyositis, eosinophilic fasciitis related to inflammatory myositis, lymph edema, Morel-Lavellee disease, and acute compartment syndrome. 3. Summarization of clues of differential diagnoses as a table focused on 1) signal intensi- ty of deep fascia and muscle 2) number of involved compart- ment and fascia 3) swelling in subcutaneous fat layer CONCLUSION: The pattern of abnormal signal intensity of T2 weighted images and enhanced T1 weighted images, number of involved compartment, number of involved fascia, presence of swelling in adjacent subcutaneous fat layer, and pattern of abnormality of muscle in involved fascia can be useful clue for differential diagnosis of the various diseases with abnormal deep fascia.
