Background and objectives: The excessive intake of sugar-added food may increase the dyslipidemia-developing risk by increasing blood triglyceride level. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sugar-sweetened beverages drinking frequency on dyslipidemia-developing risk in Korean adults. Methods: Subjects were 60 persons with dyslipidemia-developing risk Dyslipidemia group, DG, average age 39.4 years and 37 normal persons Control group, CG, average age 33.9 years residing in Incheon, Korea. The dyslipidemia-developing risk was defined as the presence of one or more of blood lipid profiles in the reference range by diagnostic criteria of dyslipidemia in Korean; total cholesterol TC ≥ 200mg/dL, triglyceride TG ≥ 150mg/dL, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol HDL-C < 60mg/dL, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol LDL-C ≥ 130mg/dL). The drinking frequency and preference of sugar-sweetened beverages were collected using self-administered questionnaires and height, body weight, and blood lipid profiles were examined. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 20.0. Results: Height, body weight, and BMI of the subjects were 165.9cm, 66.1kg, and 23.79kg/m2 in the DG, 163cm, 56.4kg, and 20.9kg/m2 in the CG, respectively. There were significant differences in TC, TG, HDL-C, and LDL-C between the DG 196.7mg/dL, 145.1mg/dL, 56.3mg/dL, and 112.2mg/dL and the CG 168.0mg/dL, 72.7mg/dL, 71.7mg/dL, and 82.7mg/dL. As for sugar-sweetened beverages, the carbonated beverages drinking frequency was significantly higher in the DG compared to the CG p<0.01 but ginseng/red ginseng beverages and tea drinking frequencies were significantly lower in the DG compared to the CG p<0.05. The drinking frequency and preference of sugar-sweetened beverages except ginseng/red ginseng beverages showed a significantly positive correlation. The odds ratio of the dyslipidemia-developing risk according to the carbonated beverages drinking frequency showed a signifi
