Spectral Element Analysis of the Dynamic Interfacial Stresses in Three-layer Beams

Structural integrity of a multi-layer structure may depend on the dynamic stresses at the interfaces between each layer of the structure. Thus it is important to accurately predict the dynamic interfacial stresses in an efficient way for successful designs of multi-layer structures. This paper presents a frequency-domain spectral element method by which the dynamic interfacial stresses can be accurately predicted for a three-layer beam. The high accuracy of the spectral element method is verified and numerical studies are conducted to investigate the dynamic interfacial stresses for various loadings.
