ABDOMINAL OBESITY ITSELF MIGHT NOT BE A RISK FACTOR FOR MORTALITY IN CONTINUOUS AMBULATORY PERITONEAL DIALYSIS PATIENTS

The relationship between abdominal obesity(AO) and mortality in peritoneal dialysis(PD) patients is controvercial. AO appears to be a risk factor for death in End-stage Renal Disease patients as in the general population. The prevalance and the effects of AO on the survival of PD patients were examined AO itself might not be a risk factor for mortality in PD patients. Nevertheless, further prospective studies with a large number of patients will be needed.
