Why thicker TiO2 film shows higher photocatalytic activity?

It has been known that photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films are greatly dependent on the film thickness. We propose that the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 film originates from the amount of transferred phtogenerated electron and hole pairs from the inside to the surface of TiO2 film.
