Induction patterns of aromatic compounds catabolism in soil streptomycetes
초록
Both S. viridosporus T7A and S. setonii are gram-positive soil bacteria which can degrade various aromatic compounds via ortho-cleavage pathway. The two key ortho-cleavage enzymes [catechol 1,2-dioxygenase (C12O) and protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase (P34O)] present in both Streptomyces species are believed to play a major role opening the aromatic rings. In this study, we showed that C12O and P34O in both Streptomyces species are induced by various aromatic compounds, yet differentially regulated depending on the culture conditions by comparing the induction patterns in S. viridosporus and S. setonii. We also showed the catabolic genes encoding C12O and P34O are present at different locations of the S. viridosporus chromosome.
