색채분석을 통한 도시가로경관 개선방안에 관한 연구

The view from the streets in a city plays an important role for the people by giving them pleasure of enjoying good urban scenery, and eventually preparing for them good place to work and to live in. One of the most important factors affecting the quality of cityscapes is the color in the streets, especially that of the buildings in it. The effect of the color turns out to be more decisive nowadays as the buildings are built larger in volume and height and the introduction of the street furnitures becomes more numerous and diverse, opening wider surfaces dominant in the urban landscape as a whole. This study is intended to make survey on the practices of color application in our cities in order to evaluate and provide materials necessary for the amelioration of the actual situation, which calls for suitable intervention to up-grade the quality of urban environment. For the survey we selected Wolmido area in Incheon recently designated as Special District for the Tourism. We analyzed and evaluated the colors by using the method of measurement by vision. The result of the study led us to the conclusion that the categorical choice and adoption of the color scheme adequate to the characteristics of the regional color environment is of necessity for the remedy of the present disorder. It is understood that the introduction of a system of management controlled by the specialist on the level of city government is necessary for the promotion of continued betterment of milieu of color in the area.
