A Basic Study for Developing Leotard

초록

This study comprises foundational research for the development of leotards for women in their 30s to 40s. This research seeks to investigate domestically and internationally available leotard products in the market and how they are worn. Additionally, it aims to identify areas for improvement to ensure a better fit when developing new leotards. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted targeting 200 women in their 30s to 40s with ballet experience in the 2021–2023 period. The survey examined purchasing practices and customer satisfaction related to leotards. Based on the survey results, three preferred brands (A, B, and C) for women in their 30s to 40s were selected from among both domestic and international brands. Two types of leotards—camisole and sleeve leotards—were chosen, resulting in a total of six leotards for evaluation. Participants wore the selected leotards sequentially and evaluated the wear aptness and movement aptness of each leotard. The results are as follows: First, there is a need to address the discomfort in the crotch area of leotards. Second, it is necessary to develop leotards that sufficiently embrace the body and fit well. Third, the results confirm that leotards must be developed with an appropriate level of elasticity.
