Preparation and Properties of High Impact Polypropylene with Different Sizes of CaCO3 Particles

초록

High impact polypropylene/CaCO3 composites were prepared by melt blending by using a twin screw extruder. Two types of CaCO3 particles with average diameters of 0.07 and 27.53 flm were used with filler weight fraction ranging from 0.5 to 20. Tensile properties and notched Izod impact properties were explored as a function of the composition of the composites and the particle sizes. Incorporation of CaCO3 particles into HIPP enhanced the impact properties without significant effects on the tensile strength. The microstructure of HIPP/CaCO3 composites was analyzed by SEM and TEM observation. The spherulite morphologies in the presence and absence of CaCO3 particles were obseNed by polarized optical microscopy.
