Effect of the grain size distribution and grain boundary chemistry on the phase transtion and physical characteristics of nano-grained BaTiO3 ceramics

The nano-grained BaTiO3 ceramics, which were prepared at 800oC from 40-nm-size nano-powders, are of a cubic structure with a small fraction of tetragonal phase, similar to that of the starting BaTiO3 nano-powders of the same size. On the other hand, the BaTiO3 ceramics with about 1.3- micrometer-size grains, which were prepared at sintering temperature ranging from 1100 to 1200oC, have a mainly tetragonal phase.
