초록
This paper provides dynamic modeling and mode shape control of a flexible smart plate filled with an electrorheological (ER) fluid. Firstly, an electric field-dependent complex shear modulus of the employed ER fluid itself is obtained from a rotary oscillatory test. A dynamic model for the smart plate is then developed by incorporating the measured modulus with finite element method. Following the construction of a four partitioned ER fluid-based plate, an extensive modal test is experimentally conducted to identify natural frequencies and mode shapes with respect to both the magnitude and the area of the applied electric fields to the ER fluid domains. In order to validate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, globally and locally controlled mode shapes and natural frequencies measured from the experimental implementation are compared with ones predicted from the dynamic modeling.
