도시재생의 관점에서 본 “아트팩토리” 운동의 문제점과 대안에 관한 연구

초록

It has been the global tendency to associate modern industrial relics in the city such as factory district in particular, with a new moment of urban growth that is bound up with 'creation' or 'ingenuity' of art, in order to promote urban renewal and create a new community based on so called culture. Founded upon a mature recognition to adopt value-growth as a paradigm for urban development rather than physical growth, some Korean big cities has employed this strategy to maintain local identity. On the other hand, however, it is a matter of grave concern that a so called "art factory" movement might be adopted as a governmental policy that would make the movement prevalent and then a victim of urban redevelopment convention. The study intends to review the present state of some "creative villages" recently established in Seoul, Incheon, and Busan, to analyze the problems of "art factory"movement, and to examine the right directions and alternatives of the movement suitable for Korean urban situation.
