초록
In this paper, we report our numerical (3D FEM) simulation in order to understand the effect of floating electrode on the LC cell. In the LC cell when an electrode is either grounded or floated, the director distribution as well as the potential distribution was calculated with its electro-optical characteristic analyzed. The calculated results are similar to the effect of the dielectric with high permittivity dielectric constant or protrusion. Figure 1 shows Electric potential distribution of exemplary cell with the floating electrode and with the dielectric with high permittivity dielectric constant.
