Hybrid Debugging Method: Algorithmic + Step-wise Debugging

초록

Debugging techniques have been studied with compiler techniques for a long time. Popular debugging methods are step-wise debugging method and an algorithmic debugging method using top-down method. Step-wise debugging requires much time and labor from the debugger user because the method executes statements sequentially. Algorithmic debugging method has the problems that an execution tree is as large as the size of a program. And the method can only locate a function including errors. In this paper, we suggest a hybrid debugging method. This method combines a step-wise debugging method with an algorithmic debugging method. To apply this method to the various languages, we design a generalized hybrid debugging system.
