초록
The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a Korean Burnout Kids Self-Diagnostic Pictorial Scale reflecting the educational environment and sociocultural characteristics of Korean society. Based on the formation process and core components of Korean Burnout Kids identified by Park et al. (2025), preliminary items were developed through focus group interviews, open-ended surveys, literature reviews, and expert content validation. A pilot survey was conducted with 98 elementary school students, and a main survey was conducted with 192 elementary school students. Item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were performed using SPSS 29.0 and AMOS 29.0. The results indicated that the final scale consisted of 10 items across three factors: Academic Burden and Physical-Emotional Exhaustion, Academic Stress and Negative Self-Perception, and Academic Burden and Social Withdrawal. In addition, the scale was developed in a pictorial format combining text and images to enhance children's comprehension and response accuracy. The findings suggest that the Korean Burnout Kids Self-Diagnostic Pictorial Scale is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing burnout among Korean children and may be used as a screening tool for early identification, prevention, and intervention.
