Numerical Analysis on Electrical and Optical Properties of Field Fringe Switching LC Cell with Common Electrode

In this paper, we discussed numerical study on Field Fringe Switching (FFS) LC cell with common electrode. We carried out finite element (FE) study on four LC cells. The optically compensated bend (OCB) mode was used for verifying the accuracy of our work. We compared electrical and optical properties of these FFS LC cells which has different taper shape. We selected four taper shapes which were un-tapered, linear, sinusoidal, and S-shape. The un-tapered shape means electrode has the rectangular edge.
