초록

For the development of a reasonable dielectric layer for a PDP (Plasma Display Panel), high transmittance (above 80%) is required and influenced by pores in fired thick film. In this study, Bi2O3-ZnO-SiO2 glasses were used to make thick films by screen-printing method and evaluated for the transmittance and porosity at the different firing temperature (560~620℃). We investigated a relationship between transmittance and porosity in transparent thick films. The transmittance was increased (83 ~ 85%), as a function of increasing temperature, however, the porosity was significantly decreased (31 ~ 11%). With increasing firing temperature, the amount of pores in thick films were decreased so that the transmittance was improved. The results indicate that the bismuth glass system would be suitable as an alternative to Pb-based dielectric layer in PDPs.
