IPTV기반 STB를 위한 HDD와 SSD 저장장치의 성능평가

With advance to the development of high speed Internet and multi media service devices. recently, diverse multimedia services have been popular. One of the typical multimedia services is IPTV and users need to use set-top box(STB) to display or browse high resolution multimedia data. In order to provide seamless VOD service using STB based on IPTV, the I/O performance and power consumption of the storage system in STB should be enhanced. In this paper, We made a performance comparison between HDD and SSD storages in STB based on IPTV. The result shows that I/O response time of SSD is 62% better than that of HDD and the power consumption of SSD is 96% less than that of HDD.
