Polymers have been filled with inorganic materials in order to increase properties like heat resistance, mechanical strength and electrical conductivity or to decrease property like permeability for gases such as oxygen or water vapor. Especially, polymer-layered silicate nanocomposites(PLS) are a class of composites in which the reinforcing phase dimension is in the order of nanometer. Because of their nanometer size characteristics nanocomposite possess superior properties than the conventional nanocomposites due to maximized the interfacial adhesion. In this study, nanocomposite of organo-clay and polyepichlorohydrin(PECH) were prepared by solvent-cast. PECH is an amorphous polymer synthesized from epichlorohydrin. We investigated the interlayer spacing, thermal stability, rheological and mechanical properties of the PECH/organo-clay nanocomposite. The degree of intercalation and the effect of sonication of organo-clay in the nanocomposites were studied by using an X-ray diffractometer. Furthermore, the thermal stability, the yield and the PECH content of the products were determined by TGA
