Age-related change in biological characterization of human articular chondrocyte

초록

Articular cartilage is one of the tissues with the highest frequency of age-related pathology. Osteoarthritis(OA) not only represents the most frequent musculoskeletal disorders but also the most common disease in the aged population, but the mechanism by which age is involved in the eiology of OA is largely unknown. Articular cartilage undegoes a number of age-related changes including a decrease in the number of chondrocytes. In addition to cell loss with aging, there is also an increase in the degradation of matrix components. Age-related degeneration of articular cartilage could result from or be exacerbated by, too few chondrocytes to maintain and repair the tissue adequately. The "senescent" articular chondrocyte seems to be a good model to examine the responses to aging in osteoarthritis. However the biological changes in aging process of human articualr chondrocyte has been remained obscure. The object of study was to investigate age-related changes in human articular chondrocyte.
