Dislocation Structure in Hot Deformed Al-Zn-Mg Alloy by X-ray Line Profile Analysis

The microstructure of the extruded Cu-free Al-Zn-Mg alloy is studied. Hot torsion tests were performed on an Cufree Al-Zn-Mg alloy to investigate the effect of high strain deformation on the dislocation behavior. The dislocation structure are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) profile analysis and the Effective stress-strain curves are obtained from hot torsion tests. It was found that the dislocation density of the low deformation temperature is higher than that of the high deformation temperature. The dislocation density of the alloy increases gradually up to ε=1 with increasing strain and it does not change significantly during further deformation.
