Effect of Zinc Addition on Fabrication of Lotus-type Porous Copper

초록

Lotus-type porous copper is new type of porous copper because it has long cylindrical pores aligned parallel to the solidification direction. Although there are many variables to control the pore characteristics in lotus-type porous copper, we used one of the variables, the addition of other alloy elements in pure copper. This work discusses the effect of zinc addition on lotus-type porous copper fabricated by unidirectional solidification in the hydrogen gas at the pressure 0.1 MPa. The content of zinc was up to 0.1 at% in the lotus-type porous copper. The average pore diameter of the lotus-type porous copper with zinc content of 0.01 at% was the smallest and it was increased with increasing zinc content. These results show that zinc addition affects the pore morphology in the lotus-type porous copper.
