Time synchronization technique using GNSS signals between independent lowcost receivers

초록

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signal is an essential element in the national infrastructure of the modern society, but has a fundamental disadvantage such that it is extremely vulnerable to jamming signals due to the nature of lowpower receiving GNSS signals on the ground. Many researches on jamming signal monitoring, which detects a wide and powerful jamming signal using high-price equipment, have been introduced. However, a new problem to monitor a relatively narrow range of low power GNSS jammer such as Personal Private Devices (PPD) emerged. Among GNSS jamming signal monitoring studies, a technique for estimating the location of a jammer by using Time Difference of Arrivals (TDOA) information between low-cost GNSS receivers was presented recently. However, the performance of this technique is seriously affected by the accuracy of time synchronization between GNSS receivers. In this paper, we propose a method of time synchronization using raw IF data samples received from inexpensive receivers located at known position.
